Corum launched as the third big RPG hit from HiCom in Korea, right after The War of Genesis and Astonishia Story. You play a warrior hunting down an evil lord who wiped out your village. The gameplay feels rough around the edges for a modern title. You have three weapon types to choose from, but your offensive options remain limited to a standard combo and a dash attack. A block mechanic exists on paper, yet it often leaves you vulnerable, so players usually just mash buttons or run away to survive. The combat system lacks depth because bosses switch to near-invincible modes that force hours of grinding before you can land a single hit. The enemy AI struggles to pose any real threat during normal encounters. A unique meter charges between attacks to boost your strike power, which reminds us a bit of Final Fantasy Adventure on the original Game Boy. This first entry in the series shows why it became so popular despite its unpolished feel and repetitive action loops.
