Cosmic Alien is a 1980 arcade shooter from Universal Co., Ltd. where you guide a bottom-screen turret against waves of alien attackers. Enemies like chiefs, guards, and soldiers appear in formations, breaking off to dive toward you while dropping bombs. Priority targets include flagship aliens guarded by escorts, take down the escorts first to boost your score. Missed shots let enemies retreat back into the formation, setting up repeating attack patterns. Standouts include aliens re-entering play mid-screen without disappearing off the top, a mechanic absent in similar games. Bombs spread in wide horizontal arcs instead of single shots, raising tension. By the third level, the final alien transforms into a massive winged beast, while later enemies resemble demonic creatures. Play with three lives, earning a fourth at 5,000 points.
