Cosmo Tank is a top-down shooter where you pilot a tank through shifting perspectives. Levels start with a bird’s-eye view on a planet’s surface before switching to first-person when entering tunnels. Defeat the Life Core in each level to progress, then battle through vertical stages to jump to new worlds. The quest mode tasks you with eradicating alien cores across five planets, earning up to 999 experience points to level your tank. Training mode lets you sharpen skills in a sandbox, while the vs. mode pits two players against each other via a link cable to see who can shatter the alien leader first. The game stands out for its clever use of perspective changes, a rarity on the Game Boy at the time. Its ranking system adds replay value, awarding a score and title after each run, though finishing with a skull and crossbones means you didn’t survive the battlefield. While the 1990s-era graphics are minimal, the tight controls and competitive multiplayer kept it a staple for local co-op fans. Its blend of strategy and arcade action made it a cult hit among handheld shooter enthusiasts.
