Cosmos is a vertically scrolling shooter where you pilot a spacecraft through waves of descending enemies. You tilt your ship to dodge debris and fire upward to take out targets. Power-ups let you expand your arsenal with spread shots or homing missiles. Released in late 1981, it plays like a cousin to Astro Blaster with sharper ship movement and tighter collision detection. The screen scrolls smoothly but enemies can pack tightly during boss fights. The game earns praise for its responsive controls and score-chasing potential. High-scorers note later stages introduce erratic enemy patterns that require precise timing. While the soundtrack is basic for the era, the retro pixel art gives it distinct charm versus generic space shooters. Many compare it favorably to 1982’s Galaxian despite coming earlier. It remains playable in modern arcade emulators.
