Crack'ed casts you as a bird scientist defending Hornbill eggs from critters using a slingshot. Three levels on the Atari 2600 version task you with fending off raccoons and snakes that try to steal eggs. Each level gives you a limited time to protect nests before the clock resets. If a predator grabs an egg, you can chase it but risk leaving other nests open. Later stages shift from tree canopies to underground sewers and a chaotic bonus round where roosters pop from windows. The 2600 edition sticks to three levels but leans into hardware limits with tight pacing. The 2600 version only saw a limited 2002 release at a retro gaming event, complete with custom packaging. While the 7800 had double the levels, the 2600 version’s short runtime focuses on repetitive but frantic action. Nostalgia hunters note its rarity and oddball premise, with the bonus round standing out as a jarring but memorable twist. The game’s niche appeal shines in its quirky concept and hardware-specific execution.
