Crash Boom Bang! is a trivia and puzzle-based party game for Nintendo DS that puts a familiar face in unfamiliar territory. Players answer questions, solve challenges, and test reflexes in competitive mini-games featuring Crash Bandicoot and co. The DS's dual screens handle quiz prompts and action sequences while the microphone is used for voice-based mini-games. Local multiplayer lets up to four players join in with basic controls, though the mechanics feel more like repurposed concepts than fresh ideas. The game stands out as the first in the Crash Bandicoot series made specifically for Nintendo DS and the only title in the franchise developed by a Japanese studio. Despite its premise, it failed to impress critics or audiences, receiving some of the lowest scores in the series' history. With its repetitive content and clunky controls, it's a curious footnote in the series rather than a memorable entry. The DS's hardware quirks are present but rarely leveraged effectively, leaving the gameplay feeling rushed and underdeveloped compared to its peers.
