This sequel follows Crash Bandicoot as he fights back against a mind-control gadget invented by Dr. Cortex and Dr. Brio. Instead of linear stages, you get eight open areas to roam while taking on side missions from various characters. You collect items and build an army of mutated friends to fight alongside you in these hub worlds. The gameplay keeps the series roots but shifts focus toward exploration and managing your squad rather than just moving through a straight path. Multiplayer modes let you team up or compete against friends on Xbox 360, PS2, Wii, and PSP. Players have given the game a solid rating for its chaotic fun factor despite some criticism of the open structure. The mutated allies add a unique layer to combat since you can command them during battles. It feels like a natural progression for the franchise that leans harder into chaos than previous entries did.

Storyline

The game's story centers on the arrival of a popular technological device that puts its users under the control of the device's creators and antagonists Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nitrus Brio. Crash and his magical mask friend Aku Aku are the only ones unaffected by the device, and must free their friends from its control and put an end to Dr. Cortex's plot.
