About

Crisis Zone is a 1999 arcade shooter from Namco that swaps the usual handgun for a massive machine gun controller. You’re part of a special unit storming a London district seized by terrorists. The game mixes on-rails shooting with physical motion as you duck lean and fire through chaotic urban environments. Enemies swarm from alleys and rooftops forcing quick reflexes and steady hands. The custom controller is the main draw mimicking the weight and movement of a real machine gun. Players remember the visceral feedback and intense action. Released in 1999 it got a 2004 PS2 port with Guncon2 support. Though niche it remains a standout in arcade shooters for its hardware innovation and frantic gameplay. Single-player only but the tension of clearing each level keeps you coming back.

Storyline

In August 2000, Garland Square opened on the outskirts of London, with a large department store, office buildings, and a park next to each other. However, on October 16, two months after opening, it was occupied by the anti-British terrorist organization "URDA" led by Derrick Lynch. To suppress terrorism, the British government has dispatched a special anti-terrorism unit, the STF, to the area.
