Crossed Swords is a co-op hack and slash RPG with arcade roots, letting two players team up to slash through hordes of enemies. You control silhouette warriors in a wire-frame world, switching between weapons and spells in fast-paced combat. The top-down perspective shows your character’s outline but not their face, creating a stark, geometric look. Progression mixes RPG leveling with beat-em-up brawls, and the action stays relentless from start to finish. The game’s minimalist style and two-player mode stand out, especially for Neo Geo fans. Its unusual design influenced later titles like 2010’s Rage of the Gladiator. A sequel, Crossed Swords 2, followed in 1995, one of the few Neo Geo CD games made exclusively for the format. The original remains a niche pick for those digging retro co-op action with a side of swordplay.
