Crystal Defenders R2 is a turn-based strategy game where you arrange a mix of melee fighters, spellcasters, and archers to block enemies from fleeing a map. Each wave forces you to balance positioning and resource management, as losing too many crystals to escaping foes ends the game. Units have distinct roles, short-range brawlers, long-distance archers, and area-effect mages, and maps grow more complex with multiple pathways. You upgrade units using Power Crystals and unlock new classes like Flintlock marksmen or Tinker engineers to adapt to tougher challenges. The sequel adds layered strategy with revised maps and three Power Crystal types that change how units perform. New classes introduce fresh playstyles, pushing players to rethink defenses for each level. While the 2009 Wii release has aged, its blend of tactical planning and resource tension holds up. A tighter follow-up to the original, it rewards careful positioning over brute force.
