Cursed Place is a narrative-driven visual novel split into two distinct acts. You play as a stranger arriving in a fog-drenched town, fleeing their past and clutching a suitcase of unresolved memories. A job offer at Opaline Manor pulls you toward a remote estate haunted by local legends. The story unfolds through dialogue and choice, with each decision subtly shifting the tone between mystery, dread, and eerie quiet. Sparse but evocative art and voice acting frame a slow-burn tale where the true horror often lingers just offscreen. The game’s strongest hook is its moody atmosphere, built on short but impactful vignettes that hint at deeper secrets. Developed in two consecutive months for the Amare Jam, it wears its indie roots proudly, with rough edges that feel intentional. While the runtime is brief, around 3-4 hours, it leans into ambiguity, leaving players to piece together the manor’s mysteries. Early community feedback highlights its atmospheric tension and the unsettling way the story mirrors your own sense of unease. Not a deep RPG but a strong entry for fans of psychological storytelling.
You've come to the town - a little unnamed thing - in the first train you’ve managed to catch, with naught a plan to follow. In a hurry, you’ve severed all ties with your past, carrying the remnants of your old life in a portable suitcase. On the station, right where the horse carriages wait for the passengers, you found a note. "Opaline Manor is looking for aides: maid, servants, pages. Promised good pay, lodging, and weekly leave." Despite the rumors surrounding the manor, you took the note, and headed down the moor.
