You’re given a set of mechanical parts and told to build a robot that can outlast and outfight opponents. Choose from over 200 components to assemble your machine pick a chassis add weapons and tweak movement parts then test your design in arena battles. Combat mixes timed attacks defensive maneuvers and environmental hazards requiring both setup and reflexes. The GameCube’s hardware lets you tweak parts on the fly mid battle adding another layer of strategy. Up to four players can join in locally via split screen making it easy to turn a single match into an all-day competition. The depth of customization feels unmatched for its time with each part offering distinct advantages and tradeoffs. While the story mode is brief the rock-paper-scissors dynamic between different robot builds keeps matches fresh. Community forums still highlight its lasting appeal with some players tweaking builds decades later. The March 2004 release date means this is a buried classic for many but the core loop of design test and adapt remains satisfyingly tight.
