About

Cyber Stadium Series Base Wars is a 1991 NES title that swaps human players for cyborgs in a quirky take on baseball. You control robot athletes from 14 teams, 12 tied to real cities, competing in matches where the action spills beyond the field. Pitchers hurl fastballs while dodging robotic opponents, and batters swing or brawl their way to bases. The game mixes turn-based batting with real-time combat during plays, letting you punch or kick rivals to gain advantages. Single-player and co-op modes let you manage lineups or team up for local matches. The game’s standout is its wild fusion of sports mechanics and robot-on-robot violence. While baseball simulations typically focus on stats and strategy, Base Wars adds chaotic brawls that feel ahead of its time. Konami’s design leans into absurdity, imagine a slide into second base that turns into a fistfight. Though it never caught mainstream attention, the title remains a curiosity for fans of niche ’90s sports hybrids. Its dated graphics and uneven pacing won’t wow modern players, but the concept’s sheer oddness lingers.

Storyline

Baseball team owners have become frustrated with the continually increasing sallaries of baseball players, and have decided to use cyborg robots instead. There are 14 teams in the league, 12 of which represent specific cities. Robots often pitch battles between each-other during the game, in order to achieve victory, beyond the basic rules of baseball.
