Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is a top-down action game where you lead a squad of武士 to repel endless waves of invaders. Using the DSi's touchscreen you issue commands to build traps set ambushes and unleash special attacks. Each level forces you to balance resource management with quick reflexes as enemies adapt to your strategies. The grid-based battlefield lets you swap positions on the fly but you only have so many lives and limited upgrades to work with. The game’s charm comes from its punchy anime-style visuals and the way it leverages the DSi’s hardware. Microphone support lets you shout to trigger certain moves though it’s optional. With over 50 stages and randomized enemy patterns it holds up better than most DSiWare titles in terms of replay value. Casual players will appreciate the short session-friendly design while veterans might find the difficulty curve a bit uneven.
