Dance Central 2 is a motion-controlled music game where you mimic on-screen dance moves using the Kinect camera. Your score depends on how closely you match the timing and positioning of each step. Newcombs to the series will find the basics simple but the challenge ramps up quickly with harder difficulties. The game leans into party appeal with routines covering pop, hip-hop, and electronic tracks. A fitness mode tracks calories burned but doesn't feel like a workout. This sequel adds voice commands for skipping songs or pausing mid-routine. Two players can take turns or dance together in split-screen modes with competitive scoring. The Break it Down tool lets you loop tricky parts of a routine without restarting. A story-driven campaign pits players against rival dance crews across different styles. Though it never reached the cultural peak of Harmonix's rhythm games, fans of the first game appreciate the added depth. The two-player modes made it a hit for couch co-op in 2011.
