Dark Side is a first-person action puzzle game where you play a secret agent on a moon under siege. Your mission is to disable a massive alien weapon before it destroys its home planet. You navigate the environment using a jetpack-equipped suit, shooting ECD towers in a precise sequence to cut the weapon’s power. Each ECD must be destroyed in order or it will immediately rebuild. Movement and weapon use drain your energy, split between shields and fuel. Crashing into obstacles or taking damage when shields are low can end your mission fast. The clock is ticking as the weapon charges, forcing you to balance speed with careful planning. What sets Dark Side apart is its tight blend of resource management and puzzle-solving under pressure. You constantly convert energy between shields and fuel, seeking hidden recharge points to survive. The 1988 release brought first-person gameplay to multiple classic systems like DOS and Amiga. While the graphics are basic by today’s standards, the urgency of its mechanics and the satisfaction of beating the countdown keep it engaging.
