"There's little to no reason to recommend Tennis to anyone. The paltry amount of modes is unsatisfying, and the characters' only differences lie in their limited speech bank that repeats incessantly. The presentation is bearable, but seeing it struggle is bewildering. More importantly, despite the number of control schemes available, it feels like wasted work since your only real interactions with the game are reduced to hitting the ball. Despite the tempting $8 price tag on the game, you're better served waiting for any other tennis game to come along for the system."

Play as a team in this 1990s tennis title based on the real-world Davis Cup format. Control players in third-person view during singles and doubles matches, choosing from multiple courts and difficulty settings. The game includes championship modes, practice sessions, exhibition matches, and tournament play. Team up with a friend for doubles or go solo in head-to-head challenges. Gameplay focuses on timing for spin control and shot execution, with strokes and strategies that reflect the sport’s real-world mechanics. The game emphasizes court conditions and opponent variety, offering replayability across different match types. Developed by Loriciels and published by Tengen, it launched in late 1991 on Sega Mega Drive, TurboGrafx-16, and PC Engine CD. While visuals and controls show clear 90s limitations, the focus on team play and competitive structure stands out for retro sports fans.
