Dawngate is a team-based MOBA where five players control customizable heroes called Shapers. The goal is to work together to dismantle the opposing team's guardian while defending your own. Each Shaper can tweak abilities with spells and items and deploy vision aids to map out enemy movements. Progress relies on coordination and strategy rather than individual skill alone. The game was designed as a free-to-play title with optional purchases. Despite its polished mechanics and EA's backing, Dawngate shut down after 18 months of beta testing. Server closures followed poor player retention and financial returns that fell short of expectations. Early reviews noted solid teamplay systems but struggled to compete with established rivals. The project remains a footnote in EA's attempts to crack the MOBA genre.
