Day One: Garry's Incident casts you as a pilot stranded in the Amazon Rainforest after a volcanic eruption derails a cargo run. Armed with limited supplies and a plane wreck, you scavenge materials, build shelters, and fend off wildlife to stay alive. The game blends exploration with resource management as you uncover clues about an ancient civilization and a mysterious artifact tied to your sudden relocation from Yellowstone. Combat is minimal but tense, relying more on evasion and environmental hazards than firepower. The open world encourages curiosity but offers little hand-holding, leaving you to piece together the story and survival mechanics through trial and error. The game’s ambitious premise and atmospheric setting didn’t translate to strong execution. Mixed reviews from 2013 highlight a compelling backdrop let down by clunky systems and sparse guidance. While some players praised the eerie jungle environments and the artifact’s lore hooks, others found the survival loop repetitive and underdeveloped. With a 54% Metacritic score, it’s a flawed but occasionally intriguing experiment in indie survival design. Released for PC, it remains a niche pick for those interested in its raw concept over polished gameplay.
Garry Friedman, a veteran bush pilot in his early 40’s , still broken down emotionally after a tragic accident involving his wife and his little girl, drowns himself in alcohol every night to escape his torment. Now numb to the constant dangers he faces, Garry keeps signing up for impossible jobs; he gets the cash, doesn’t ask questions, business as usual. Some doubt his motives but Garry needs this danger now, he needs the adrenaline, it’s the closest he gets to feeling alive again. On Friday, September 13, 2013, a transport job has him going to a research facility in Yellowstone and bringing the some cargo to Nevada; the drop coordinates would then be updated during the mission. But Garry would never reach his destination…
