Deadly Rooms of Death is a turn-based puzzle game where you guide a sword-wielding hero through deadly dungeons. Each turn lets you either move your character or adjust your blade’s direction. Enemies react instantly to your actions forcing you to anticipate their behavior. Success relies on careful planning and memorizing the habits of roaches goblins and other threats. Combat is minimal but precise, every swing must count as you navigate increasingly complex rooms filled with traps and foes. This 1996 PC title has aged into a cult classic praised for its razor-sharp difficulty and clever level design. Over 300 puzzles test logic and patience with many players still struggling to reach the final boss decades later. The absurd premise, a king’s messy dungeon hygiene sparks a monster infestation, adds charm to the relentless challenge. While brutally tough it rewards persistence with a deep sense of accomplishment.
King Dugan has a problem. He let his guards eat their meals down in the dungeon, and they spread crumbs all over the place, so suddenly his lovely dungeons are swarming with cockroaches, not to mention goblins, serpents, evil eyes, and other nasty things. It's really gotten out of hand. Beethro Budkin, dungeon exterminator extraordinaire and the main protagonist, is called to the castle and, after a short briefing by Dugan, thrown into the dungeon with the doors locked securely after him. With only a "Really Big Sword" at his disposal, it's up to our hero to clear the place, so that the prisoners can receive their torture in a clean and safe environment.
