Deadly Tide drops you into the cockpit of a one-man submersible in the year 2445 as Earth’s oceans teem with hostile aliens. You battle through pre-rendered levels in a mix of shooter and point-and-click mechanics, fending off waves of aquatic threats while navigating submerged environments. Each stage pushes you toward a survival objective as the aliens slowly drown the planet. Cutscenes tie the missions together, balancing action with the story’s escalating stakes. The game’s hybrid approach stands out, pairing real-time shooting with strategic aiming and timing. Though dated by modern standards, its blend of tense combat and a straightforward narrative earned it a cult following among retro gamers. Released in 1996, it holds up as an early example of sci-fi submarine action, with Microsoft’s backing giving it polish rare for its era.
In the year 2445, a race of hostile aquatic aliens arrives on Earth. One of their ships sits at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, raising sea levels continuously for 5 years until almost 88% of the surface is submerged. In order to effectively fight the aliens, the fictional Earth Ocean Alliance develops the "Hydras", one-man submarine fighter craft. The player takes on the role of the last remaining fighter pilot. The objective is to travel through the alien-infested seas and fend off the targets long enough to complete the missions.
