Death Mask is a side-scrolling action game with 34 levels that unlock through password progression. Players control a character through stages packed with enemies and collectible powerup weapons. The single-player mode gives you three lives to clear each level while the multiplayer option lets two players take turns or compete. If one player finishes a stage both move forward to the next making it a simple co op style feature. The game also includes a standard Death Match mode for head to head combat. The split screen multiplayer and variety of weapons stand out in this 1995 release. Each level is designed for quick runs with tight controls and escalating challenges. Though the password system and level count were solid for its time the game remains a niche title remembered more for its multiplayer options than lasting legacy. Amiga and Amiga CD32 owners looking for retro action with local play might find it a curious artifact of late 90s design.
