Deathmatch Village is a frenetic 2D multiplayer shooter that adds base-building strategy to the mix. You juggle gunfights and resource management on a small map, racing to construct defenses while picking off opponents. Matches play out in fast chaotic bursts with no loading screens, just constant action as players clash in real time. The PlayStation Vita’s touch features let you sketch attack plans on the fly though it leans more on reflexes than deep tactics. Bloober Team best known for horror titles like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre takes a left turn here with a game that’s all about quick decisions and aggressive play. There are no slow moments, every second feels like a free-for-all. The free-to-play model keeps the barrier low and the 2013 release still holds up for quick sessions on the go. It’s not complex but it nails the rush of competing head-to-head with a mix of brains and bullets.
