You’re in charge of a coastal village in 16th-century East Frisia. Your days are spent clearing wetlands, raising dikes, and directing water flow to keep your settlement from drowning. Resources are tight and the weather is unpredictable. Every new building or road requires careful planning to avoid flooding. You manage workers, assign tasks, and adjust infrastructure as the environment shifts. Success means expanding your village while keeping citizens safe from rising tides and storms. The game stands out for its quiet focus on long-term planning and environmental balance. There’s no frantic action, just methodical problem solving as you adapt to seasonal changes and resource limits. Players praise the satisfying click of well-placed ditches and the tension of watching a storm roll in. With a 78% rating on Steam, it’s a slow burn for fans of thoughtful management. The historical setting adds texture without pretension, making every small victory feel earned.
Deichgraf is a small and calm building game in which you slip into the role of a dike warden in East Frisia in the 16th century. Your task is to build and expand your village near the coast. But be careful! The water is omnipresent. Your challenge will be to defend your village and citizens against the threatening masses of water: Lay dry wet marshland, cultivate the soil and build dikes and ditches to stop the floods and heavy rain! For this task you have different buildings and landscaping tools available.
