Demon Skin launched in April 2021 as a brutal hack and slash from developer LUDUS FUTURE. Publisher Buka Entertainment brought this title to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The story follows a Wanderer who accidentally becomes a demon while trying to stop a ritual. Players must hunt down the stolen artifact to reverse the transformation. This indie RPG mixes fighting game mechanics with platforming elements. You switch stances and weapons mid-combat to survive hordes of monsters in a dark fantasy setting. It targets players who want fast-paced action without the complexity of traditional RPGs. The single-player campaign runs through various levels filled with enemies and bosses.
Combat is the main focus here. You fight using both melee attacks and special abilities that require precise timing. The game offers two distinct modes for battles. Hardcore mode forces you to manage battle stances and switch weapons instantly to handle different enemy types. Casual mode lets you slash through waves of foes with fewer restrictions. Platforming sections appear between fights, requiring jumps and dodges to reach new areas or avoid hazards. You control a character who moves quickly across the screen. The flow changes constantly as you encounter groups of demons. Each level presents new threats that demand you adapt your weapon loadout. Managing your stance determines how effective your attacks are against specific enemy types.
Reception from critics and players remains mixed. Metacritic holds a score of 48 out of 100, reflecting the divided opinions on its execution. The PlayPile community has logged an average playtime that suggests most finish the campaign but do not linger. Only 34.1% of all achievements unlock on average across the player base. The rarest achievement is "Roasting" with a mere 5.20% completion rate. Many players struggle to master the stance-switching mechanics required for higher difficulties. Reviews often mention the combat feels unpolished despite its ambitious design. Some users appreciate the freedom to change weapons mid-fight, while others find the controls frustrating. The price point sits around $8.89 at its lowest, which might attract budget buyers willing to tolerate flaws.
Demon Skin fits players who enjoy fast combat but can accept rough mechanics. At roughly $8.89, the cost is low enough to justify a try if you like hack and slash games. The 41 achievements offer some replay value, though most remain locked for average players. This title suits those who prefer action over deep storytelling or complex RPG systems. It does not offer the polish of major studio releases. You get a straightforward campaign focused on killing demons and collecting artifacts. If you want a game that rewards patience with stance switching, this might work. Otherwise, skip it for something more refined.
The darkness has got into the far off corners of the universe and threatens the world. Only the mighty Order of Wanderers whose members possess superhuman divine powers can resist that threat. One of the Wanderers witnesses a sinister ritual of restoring a powerful ancient artifact. In an attempt to break off the ceremony he gets into a flow of energy released by the artifact and instantly turns into a demon! Wanderer is now eager to regain his former appearance but to do so he needs the artifact which was stolen afterwards. The hero sets on a path to find it, fighting the hordes of demons along the way.
