Destiny Links is a pirate-themed action RPG for the Nintendo DS. You select from eight characters each with distinct abilities and tweak gear and skills to suit your playstyle. The story revolves around sailing treacherous waters and battling enemies while unlocking progression. Single-player is the main mode but online co-op lets you team up with three friends for shared adventures. The game’s co-op feature remains a rare highlight for DS RPGs from that era. Some players still praise the variety of character builds and the chaotic fun of group play. While the narrative and combat mechanics haven’t aged perfectly the focus on customization and collaboration keeps it memorable. Released in 2009 it carved a niche for pirate RPGs with multiplayer hooks.
