Detective Grimoire is a point-and-click adventure that drops you into a small-town murder mystery. You take control of the title character, who must untangle the death of Hugh Everton at a struggling fairground. The case centers on the Hall of Mirrors, a cast of suspicious employees, and a clown with a grudge. Gameplay revolves around searching locations, interrogating witnesses, and piecing together clues through dialogue. Every interaction branches into multiple choices that shape the investigation. The stakes are clear: fail to crack the case in a single evening and the fairground shuts for good. The game’s strength lies in its tight dialogue system and atmospheric setting. The fairground feels alive with quirky characters, each hiding motives or secrets. While the story is straightforward, the pacing and writing keep it engaging, with red herrings and a satisfying reveal. Though its 2007 release shows in the graphics, the core experience holds up as a brisk, brainy mystery. Community reviews note it’s a quick but effective detective sim, best approached with a keen eye for detail.
