About

Devil Fish casts you as a dog navigating a maze filled with squids. Your goal is to lure them into eating enough to balloon in size until they block off paths. Once trapped, you confront them to trigger a small house in the maze center. Touching it unlocks a sliver of a hidden image. The twist is repeating this cycle to gradually reveal the full picture and progress. Mechanics mix resource management with timing as you balance feeding squids and avoiding their attacks. The two-player mode adds competition by letting opponents sabotage each other’s progress through the maze. Despite its odd premise, Devil Fish stands out for its quirky logic and simple yet strategic gameplay. Released in 1982, it predates many modern puzzle mechanics but feels surprisingly deliberate in its pacing. The image-reveal system gives a satisfying sense of incremental achievement, though the difficulty spikes sharply in later levels. Its cult following often cites the absurdity of the concept paired with the game’s surprising depth. Not a crowd favorite, but a curious relic of early arcade experimentation.
