Digimon Adventure is a side-scrolling platformer where you control Agumon through six levels filled with enemies and boss fights. Gameplay mirrors the mechanics of other 90s RPGs with simple controls like pressing A to fire fireballs. A strawberry item in each level transforms Agumon into his stronger Greymon form with a bigger attack. The game offers straightforward progression but relies heavily on borrowed systems and assets from other titles. The game’s most notable traits are its reused graphics and audio. Backgrounds and character sprites appear to be lifted from multiple sources including Castlevania Dracula X while the music and sound effects come from Bonkers. Despite this the game has a cultish charm for collectors of oddities. It maintains a strange legacy as a fan-made take on the Digimon IP using whatever tools were available at the time.
