Dino Eggs is a single-player platformer where you play Tim, a time traveler gathering dinosaur eggs and saving baby dinos while avoiding deadly creatures. Snakes, spiders, flying beasts, and the relentless Dino Mom all threaten your mission. Touch any of them and you'll start turning into a prehistoric spider, a transformation that costs lives and wipes out your collected eggs or rescued hatchlings. The only safe zone is a time warp field, but even there you can’t hide from the Dino Mom. Score depends on how many eggs you save and how few you lose to contamination. This 1983 DOS/Apple II/C64 title stands out for its punishing but simple devolution mechanic, which turns contact with enemies into a race against the clock. The mix of crawling creatures and aerial threats creates constant tension, and the time warp area adds a tactical retreat option. Developed by Micro Fun, it’s a quick, quirky artifact of early 80s gaming that leans into its retro charm. The score multiplier for saved eggs rewards careful play, but with limited lives and a harsh penalty system, success takes patience and timing.
