Dinotopia: The Sunstone Odyssey is a 2003 adventure game where players follow Drake Gemini after his father is killed by a rogue T-Rex on a mysterious island. The game splits its story between Drake and his brother Jacob, who take opposing paths, one protecting the dinosaurs, the other siding with a human gang that hates them. Gameplay mixes exploration, combat, and platforming across jungles and ancient ruins. Players switch between characters occasionally, though the split-screen mode lets two people play together in limited sections. The game leans heavily into its dinosaur-filled setting with creature encounters and environmental puzzles. While it didn’t make waves commercially, its cult following praises the creative use of split-screen co-op and the contrast between its two protagonists. Set on Xbox and GameCube, it’s a relic of early 2000s adventure games that prioritized quirky premise over polish.
Dinotopia: The Sunstone Odyssey follows the story of Drake Gemini, his twin brother, Jacob, and their father, who have been stranded on Dinotopia for 10 years. At the beginning of the game, Drake and Jacob's father is attacked and killed by a rogue Tyrannosaurus while exploring the outer jungles of Dinotopia. After the killing, Drake and Jacob begin to go their separate ways, with Jacob joining a gang of dinosaur-hating humans called the Outsiders and Drake choosing to take on the role of a guardian of Dinotopia.
