"Discounty had the recipe for a very fun, very addictive gameplay loop that is reminiscent of typical cozy games. Fans of the genre will have expectations and the lack of polish in performance severely hindering gameplay and fun, some seemingly incomplete gameplay features, and a world that felt like it wasn’t fully realized kept this game from being truly great. So much so that I’m left wondering if the game is finished. While many of these negatives can easily be adapted through and look past, they are numerous enough to impact overall enjoyment."

You run a discount supermarket owned by your mysterious aunt in Discounty. This indie RPG sim lets you manage store layouts, plan inventory, and handle daily sales while small-town drama unfolds around you. You strike trade deals to expand the business and help the local community with frozen fries or other goods. The game features a pixel art style that looks cozy but hides some serious moral tension beneath the surface. Critics seem to like it enough, giving it a 76 out of 100 on OpenCritic and recommending it nearly three-quarters of the time. Digital Chumps called it addictive while Impulsegamer noted the complex story hiding behind the cute graphics. You can grab this single-player title for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or PC when it releases in August 2025. The lowest price we have seen so far is around fourteen dollars on the Humble Store. It feels like a straightforward shop management sim that adds some unexpected narrative weight to the mix.
