About Dispatch

Dispatch drops you into the shoes of Robert Robertson, an ordinary guy piloting a giant robot suit called Meca Man. AdHoc Studio released this title on October 22, 2025, as a fresh entry in the superhero genre that skips the typical power fantasy for something more grounded. You play as a retired hero turned manager who runs the Z-Team at the Superhero Dispatch Network. This team consists of former villains trying to do good while dealing with their own baggage. The game launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and both Switch consoles. It frames superheroics through the lens of workplace comedy where your main job involves coordinating chaos rather than throwing punches.

Gameplay

Sessions revolve around managing resources and making tough calls during emergency dispatches across Los Angeles. You view a map showing multiple crises and must select which team member to send based on their specific skills and current mental state. The Z-Team members have conflicting personalities, so sending the wrong person can trigger office drama or mission failure. Between missions you handle office politics, repair your robot suit, and build relationships with your staff through dialogue choices. These interactions directly impact how effective your heroes are in the field. Controls focus on menu navigation and strategic selection rather than real-time action combat. Every decision ripples through the narrative, affecting who survives and whether the city gets saved without losing its cool.

What Players Think

Players have responded with genuine enthusiasm given the game just launched this October. IGDB users currently rate Dispatch at 87.2 out of 100 based on 175 ratings. Community moods lean heavily toward "satisfied" and "surprised" as people appreciate the shift from action to management. Average playtime sits around 18 hours for a standard run through the story. Review snippets highlight the writing quality, with many users noting how funny the office politics feel compared to standard superhero tropes. Some critics point out that the strategy elements require careful planning rather than reflexes. The completion rate suggests most people finish the main campaign without getting stuck on difficult tactical puzzles.

PlayPile's Take

This title works best for players who prefer strategic management over twitch-based combat or endless grinding. The price point remains standard for a full release adventure game, and the achievement list offers plenty of side content for completionists. You should pick this up if you enjoy character-driven stories where dialogue matters more than health bars. Robert Robertson is a relatable protagonist who carries the weight of his father's legacy without needing superpowers himself. The gameplay loop of dispatching misfits creates a unique rhythm that keeps sessions engaging from start to finish. Skip it if you want fast-paced action or traditional superhero fantasy scenarios.

Storyline

In a world filled with superheroes, Robert Robertson, an ordinary human, pilots a giant robotic suit as Meca Man, carrying on his father's legacy. When his suit is irreversibly damaged in a battle against his archnemesis and father's killer, Shroud, he's forced into retirement. Soon after, the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) makes him an offer: they’ll repair his suit if he agrees to lead and coordinate the Z-Team, a group of former supervillains seeking redemption, as they rush across Los Angeles to save the day. But every mission comes with choices: the kind that define what makes someone a hero, with or without superpowers.
