Dissidia Duodecim Prologus Final Fantasy is a short standalone game that sets up the events of its sequel. You follow Lightning and a customizable hero through a scripted story filled with quick battles and scripted cutscenes. The arcade mode offers 8 fighters in 1v1 combat but only one can be earned through play. Battles use the same turn-based mechanics as the main game but with simplified controls. The biggest draw is the cross-game progression. All 50+ accessories earned here transfer to Dissidia 012 when played on the same system. But don't expect much beyond that - the story is linear with no branching paths and only 3 hours of gameplay. The PSP port runs smoothly with colorful visuals but the small screen makes reading dialogue awkward at times. A quick bite for fans already invested in the series.
