Dofus is a tactical turn-based MMO that Ankama Games released back in September 2004. You play on PC, Mac, Linux, or straight through your web browser. The story starts with a dragon named Bolgrot and the six magical eggs called DOFUS. These relics hold absolute power yet remain unstable if reunited. Players arrive in Amakna because these ancient eggs vanished from their hiding spot. The world filled with unknown creatures as adventurers seek glory or plunder. It is primarily a pay-to-play experience though some free content exists. This title has stuck around for years and currently ranks number 64 on Twitch. It stands out as a strategy RPG where every turn counts against thousands of other players online.
Combat happens on a grid where you move one square at a time before attacking. You choose spells and abilities based on your class which dictates your role in the party. A typical session involves coordinating with friends to flank enemies or pulling aggro. You might spend an hour farming resources or another day tackling a dungeon boss. The game features deep character customization through skill trees and equipment drops. Exploration requires checking maps for hidden chests and rare spawns. Trading is active since items have real value in the economy. Battles can drag on if you lack synergy between characters. Your team needs to manage cooldowns carefully while reacting to enemy patterns. Every move matters because a single mistake can end a fight instantly.
Players rate Dofus highly with an average score of 8.5 out of 10 from verified users. The community completion rate sits at 72 percent for main story quests. Average playtime per account reaches 45 hours before players move to new servers or switch classes. Review snippets often mention the tactical depth as a major plus while noting the steep learning curve for newcomers. Community mood analysis shows 60 percent of recent reviews are positive with frequent mentions of strong friend groups. The game maintains a dedicated player base despite its age since it launched over two decades ago. Critic scores from various outlets average 82 out of 100. Many users praise the social aspect where guilds organize raids and trading events daily. Negative feedback usually targets the pay-to-play model restrictions for free accounts.
This game is worth your time if you enjoy slow-paced tactical combat over fast action. The price varies depending on whether you choose the free version or the subscription. You will earn 125 achievements across various classes and storylines. Dofus suits players who like planning moves carefully rather than reacting quickly. It does not suit those who want instant gratification or simple mechanics. The community is active enough to find groups quickly but small enough to keep servers stable. Expect to spend money if you want the full experience without restrictions. Play this if you have patience for a complex system and enjoy building long-term character growth.
A long time ago a dragon named Bolgrot arrived in the eternal Province of Amakna. The young Rykke Errel was the only one courageous enough to face the terrible creature. Instead of reducing him to dust as it could easily have done, the dragon bowed down before the young knight and swore loyalty to him. Months passed by and Rykke met Helsephine, a young enchantress, and fell madly in love with her. When he introduced Helsephine to Bolgrot, Rykke would never have guessed what was about to happen. The dragon, mad with rage, killed the sweet Helsephine and flew away, destroying everything on its way. Rykke chased the dragon into his cave. When he found it, the old friends confronted each other in a titanic fight. Using his weapons and magic, Rykke succeeded bringing Bolgrot down. But fatally injured, the young hero died short after. Looking for an explanation about the sudden violence of Bolgrot, the wise men of Amakna discovered within the entrails of the dragon six unusually colored eggs that were called DOFUS. Later on, it was discovered that when these eggs were reunited their power was absolute. Absolute, but also unstable. The wise men decided to conceal those terrible relics from the rest of the world. During the following centuries, the secret of the existence of the DOFUS was so well kept that people eventually forgot all about them. But a cursed day among others, the guardians of the secret discovered that the DOFUS had disappeared. The news quickly spread, arousing terror and covetousness. It didn't take long for adventurers to show up in Amakna, attracted by the prospect of glory or plunder. From then on, the destiny of Amakna was uncertain and the appearance of numerous creatures as terrifying as they're unknown added to the confusion.
