About

Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space is a lesser-known Game Boy Color title developed by Sintax. Released in 2001 as a standalone clone of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, it swaps Mario for Donkey Kong in a straightforward platforming adventure. The hero here is DK, who must rescue Sodoma, a fairy tasked with maintaining all plant life. Levels follow typical side-scrolling platformer design with jumps, enemies, and power-ups. Controls are tight but the visuals and audio feel distinctly budget-friendly compared to Nintendo’s work. This game stands out as a footnote in the Donkey Kong series, largely overlooked by mainstream audiences. With no official support or updates, it exists as a curious experiment from a third-party developer. Community feedback is sparse but leans toward casual players who enjoy its simplicity. It’s a short, no-frills experience that plays like a fan-made tribute, best approached as a novelty rather than a serious entry in the genre. Its December 31, 2001 release date also makes it one of the last Game Boy Color games to ever launch.
