Doom Rails lets you pilot a customizable cart across chaotic roller coaster tracks filled with traps and enemies. Choose from nine characters and blast opponents with rockets mines and energy waves while dodging swinging spikes and falling debris. Single player challenges include five levels against a mad scientist’s traps while online modes let you battle strangers in fast paced combat. The game stands out for its over the top destruction and tight controls which earned it a 7.2 on Metacritic. With 18 unique weapons and traps Doom Rails offers a leaner but no less violent alternative to classic arcade brawlers. Its 2009 release date means it’s easy to find and plays through without modern hardware struggles.
