Using the DS's touchscreen and buttons you control heroes fight creep waves and outbuild opponents in real time. The port maintains the original game's complex mechanics while adapting to the smaller scale. Matches unfold with the same frantic pacing but require quick taps and tilts to manage actions. Released in 2007 this homebrew effort earned a 7.2 on Metacritic from fans who praised its boldness. While visuals and performance had obvious limitations for the hardware it captured the core loop of tower defense and hero combat. The project became a cult hit among retro strategy fans proving ambitious mods can thrive outside official channels. Its existence inspired later handheld MOBA experiments though few matched its direct connection to the Dota legacy.
