About

Dragon Ball 3: Goku-den is a turn-based RPG where you guide Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha across a grid-based world to recover seven mystical orbs. Instead of traditional controls, actions are driven by playing cards that determine movement speed, combat effectiveness, and exploration options. Your goal is to rebuild the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament by collecting Dragon Balls while battling rivals and training characters to grow stronger. The story follows Goku’s quest to counter Piccolo’s destruction of the tournament, blending side-scrolling battles with strategic resource management. The game’s card system adds a layer of planning to combat and travel, distinguishing it from other RPGs of the era. Released in 1989 as part of Bandai’s early Dragon Ball games, it holds a cult status among series purists for its quirky charm. While not as influential as later entries, fans of tactical gameplay and nostalgic Dragon Ball adventures might find its blend of simplicity and strategy refreshing.

Storyline

The Great Demon King Piccolo, who seeks world domination, sees the “Tenkaichi Budokai” —where powerful martial artists gather— as a threat and destroys it. To restore the “Tenkaichi Budokai,” Goku sets out on a journey in search of the Dragon Balls.
