Dragon Fighter lets you switch between a sword-wielding warrior and a fire-breathing dragon to clear six stages teeming with enemies. As a human, you slash, jump, and shoot colored projectiles by holding a button until your character flashes. Collect power-ups to change your outfit hue, altering your attack patterns and dragon fire style. When your metamorphosis gauge fills, press jump and a button to transform into a dragon. Hover, fire breath, and auto-scroll right while avoiding enemies that close in. Your dragon time is limited, run the gauge dry and you’ll revert or risk tapping the button to shift back mid-flight. The game stands out for its dual-play mechanic and colorful attack customization. Each stage ends with a boss fight, and you get three continues before starting over. Released in 1991 on Amiga, it’s a fast-paced arcade blend with simple controls and escalating difficulty. Power-ups like enemy-clearing rings and health-boosting staves add variety, though the dragon’s fixed right-facing attack direction can feel restrictive. Players who enjoy tight action loops and transformation-based gameplay might find its charm in its era-specific execution.
