Dragstars is a high octane drag racing game that strips motorsports down to its最基本 elements. You choose from 20 modified drag racers and compete in straight line sprints where speed and timing are everything. The gameplay focuses purely on acceleration and nitro boosts with no turns or complex maneuvers to worry about. Races are judged by fractions of a second making every launch critical. The story mode uses 2D sprites for cutscenes while the actual races switch to 3D polygonal tracks creating an odd but functional visual split. Developed by Junk Art Movement and published by Midas Interactive Entertainment this PlayStation title launched in August 2000. The stark contrast between 2D and 3D visuals hasn't aged well but the core racing mechanics remain tight. With single and multiplayer options it offers straightforward competition for fans of no frills racing. The lack of complex features makes it feel more like a dedicated drag racing simulator than a traditional game.
