Dreams on a Pillow is a stealth-driven adventure game in pseudo-3D that follows Omm, a young mother fleeing her village in 1948 Palestine. Playing as Omm, you evade threats while traveling north toward Lebanon, navigating the collapse of her community. The story unfolds through her desperate movements and fragmented recollections of a life before war. Rest stops trigger quiet dream sequences of her childhood, contrasting the violence of displacement with memories of a peaceful past. The game layers real historical documentation into its setting, depicting events from the Nakba through Omm’s personal struggle. Each dream scene reconstructs a Palestinian village untouched by Zionism, using archival imagery to counter narratives of an "empty land." The stark visuals and deliberate pacing emphasize loss and resilience. While stealth mechanics are simple, the emotional weight of the journey and the attention to historical detail set it apart.

Storyline

In Dreams on a Pillow, Omm is a young mother from an olive farmers’ family in al-Tantura. Throughout the game, the player traverses historical events and stories of the Nakba as Omm attempts an escape towards Lebanon in the North. Whenever Omm has an opportunity to rest on her perilous journey, she dreams of her childhood - reliving a rapidly fading memory of a pre-Zionist Palestine. Using historical documentation and imagery, two decades of untold Palestinian history is carefully implemented and beautifully rendered, to disprove the common propaganda myth of “a land without people for a people without land”.
