"Come for the dungeon management, stay for goofy minions like Jayzee, Am'Adamss, and Kato. We've seen a lot of "spiritual successors" to Dungeon Keeper, but none have lived up to that genre-defining product. Dungeons 2 is the culmination of a lot of hard work, and it's great that Kalypso and Realmforge could finally deliver on that often-promised and hardly-delivered goal. Sure, we may not always know what we want, but when somebody shows up and does it right, you immediately know."

Dungeonrite is a first-person dungeon crawler that leans into old-school RPG mechanics. You build characters by allocating points and upgrading gear as you push through procedurally generated levels. Each floor mixes combat against enemies with varied weaknesses and environmental puzzles that require loot or clever positioning to solve. The camera perspective and tight movement keep the focus on exploration and resource management rather than action. The game’s standout is its balance between randomness and progression. With 15 boss fights and over 200 item upgrades, replayability hinges on testing different builds against shifting layouts. Early reviews note the lack of hand-holding might frustrate newcomers but reward methodical players. Released in June 2023 by Unicorn Den, it runs smoothly on mid-tier PCs and offers a solo experience with no multiplayer elements.
