Dustnet is a multiplayer shooter set in the final surviving de_dust2 server. Players choose sides as either computer users or wearers of virtual reality and augmented reality gear. The asymmetrical deathmatch pits traditional keyboard/mouse players against those using motion controls. Each platform has distinct movement and aiming mechanics which creates uneven but fair combat. The map design plays favorites with different modes giving players varied sightlines and speed. Gunplay feels punchy with a simple weapon pool that emphasizes positioning over loadout depth. The game launched in 2019 but remains active with crossplay between PC Mac mobile and VR headsets. This setup lets friends with different hardware join the same match. The core idea of matching control schemes against each other works surprisingly well. Community feedback often mentions how the platform differences force creative playstyles. While not graphically ambitious it keeps things running smoothly even in chaotic firefights. The small developer keeps making updates based on player suggestions.
