Dyna Gears is a side-scrolling beat 'em up that blends straightforward action with chaotic prehistoric mayhem. You play as Roger or Wolf, two time-travelers stranded in a dinosaur-filled jungle after a crash landing. The controls are simple, run left, attack, and switch between weapons like swords, flails, and arrows to take down everything from raptors to mutated beasts. The game moves at a relentless pace, balancing platforming and combat as you navigate tropical environments teeming with enemies. Co-op mode lets you team up for shared chaos, though the single-player campaign holds its own with a clear objective: stop the villainous Gustaf from weaponizing dinosaurs. What sets Dyna Gears apart is its retro arcade sensibility, where quick reflexes and weapon variety keep things engaging. The 1994 release leans into its era’s aesthetic without pretension, offering a no-frills but addictive mix of melee and ranged combat. While the story is straightforward, the game’s fast loops and cooperative play make it a standout for fans of old-school arcade action. Originally built for arcade cabinets, its simplicity and replayability have kept it memorable among beat 'em up enthusiasts.

Both starships battle one another until eventually crashing into a nearby planet. They now find themselves in a tropical jungle in prehistoric times. Here, Roger meets Wolf, who is also in pursuit of Gustaf. Gustaf has managed to transform a living dinosaur into a combat dinosaur.
