Earthworm Jim PSP is a cancelled 2D sidescroller that would have brought the worm hero back with 3D graphics on the PSP. Players control Jim as he fights through levels while grabbing enemies to use as weapons. The game was supposed to feature classic foes like Queen Slug-for-a-Butt and Billy the Bin alongside allies such as Peter Puppy. It blends run-and-gun action with platforming jumps, keeping the chaotic tone of the earlier entries while trying a new visual style for the handheld. The project never saw the light of day despite being eighty percent done by mid-2006. Reports from hands-on demos show solid gameplay, yet financial disputes between Shiny Entertainment, Interplay, and Atari led to the cancellation in 2007. Fans who got a peek at the build were eager for a revival, but internal conflicts stalled everything before release. This title remains a what-if scenario where you see Jim's full potential on portable hardware without ever actually playing the final product.
