Efficus: Kono Omoi wo Kimi ni... is a PlayStation-era dating sim that blends school life with relationship-building. You play as a student fresh off a move, navigating high school’s social ladder through choices that shape friendships and romances. Progression follows a monthly schedule, with each cycle offering new opportunities to bond with classmates and staff. Dialogue and actions determine how four female characters, including two staff members, view you. Out of class, you explore a small town in third person, visiting local spots that become date locations later. The game stands out for its early mix of structured scheduling and free exploration. Town visits in third person contrast with first-person conversations, adding a subtle layer of immersion. Though dated by today’s standards, its focus on social dynamics and character-driven outcomes remains engaging for fans of classic visual novels. With limited modern successors, it’s a nostalgic pick for those curious about the genre’s roots.
The game's plot is that the player controls a young high school student that is transferred to a new high school due to his parent's new job and he has to begin in his new school (beginning in September 30th) and meet new people, he can try be better appreciated by the girls of his new school, depending of the player actions they can become his friends or maybe one of them will finally love him at the end of the game. During the game the player can walk around the town (when he is not at school) and visit restaurants, shops, cinemas, a theme park, aquarium, etc. And after that use them to go in his dates with the girls. For the town the game uses a third person perspective and for the conversations a first person one.
