Eldritch University follows Kasumi Kawamura as she navigates college life haunted by a recurring nightmare. When a mysterious illness spreads through the city causing sleep-induced visions, Kasumi’s own unresolved trauma flares up. Players guide her through tense dialogue choices and environmental exploration as she balances personal relationships with uncovering a supernatural mystery. The story unfolds through static scenes and text-based interactions with classmates and lovers, punctuated by eerie dream sequences that blur the line between reality and hallucination. The game’s strength lies in its tightly written characters and emotional stakes. Player decisions influence Kasumi’s connections and the direction of the investigation, though outcomes remain constrained by a linear framework. With a Metacritic score of 78 and over 10,000 Steam copies sold, it appeals to fans of narrative-driven puzzles and slow-burn horror. The art style leans minimalist but effective, using color shifts to signal tonal changes between mundane school life and the creeping dread of the nightmare world.
