Elepong is Atari's 1973 arcade take on table tennis, built around the same circuitry as the original Pong but housed in a cabinet designed by Taito. Two players face off with basic paddles, bouncing a dot across the screen in fast-paced matches that test reflexes more than strategy. The controls are stripped down to essential left-right movement, making every rally a test of quick reactions and timing. As Taito's first venture into arcade gaming, Elepong holds a place in the history of early competitive arcade design. While the gameplay feels rudimentary by modern standards, its simplicity helped define the genre's early appeal. With no frills beyond the core mechanics, it's a straightforward challenge that put early arcade cabinets in the spotlight.
