Elk Attack is an Atari 2600 port of the obscure Taito arcade title Electric Yo-Yo. You control a yo-yo machine that shoots out string to smash colored blocks scattered across the screen. Strange worm creatures roam the area and try to mess with your aim. Finding power squares makes your device invincible and boosts your speed. Touching these worms while powered up gives you points but does not destroy them, so clearing the blocks is usually the smarter play. Programmer Mark Hahn originally named this project as a joke before it got stuck in the Atari 2600 library. The game lacks the maze structure found in Pac-Man and focuses entirely on your string mechanics. Community data suggests players enjoy the frantic pace even though the title remains silly. It is a rare find for collectors who want to try something offbeat from 1987. The hidden code credits Mark R. Hahn directly, which adds a nice touch of authenticity to this weird little shooter.
